Articles of the Association
- Article 1
- The name of the association shall be the Women's Studies Association of Japan (herein after know as “the Association”).
- Article 2
- The Association's goals and objectives are:
- To eliminate all forms of gender discrimination;
- To establish women's studies that cross between academic systems and;
- To exchange information and research results to facilitate the above goals.
- Article 3
- The Association shall carry out the following activities in order to attain its goals and objectives stipulated in the above Article 2:
- Hold research conferences;
- Hold the public forums and lectures;
- Publish an academic journal and;
- Other activities to attain the goals and objectives.
- Article 4
- The Association shall consist of individuals who engage in research activities and who agree to the above Article 2. (The second paragraph was deleted on June 12, 2004.)
The form of membership shall be either as an individual membership or an organizational membership (revised on June 10, 2006).
- Article 5
- A person who wants to join the Association needs to be recommended by two individual members of the Association, and shall submit a signed application to the Executive Board.(revised on June 10, 2006) The Executive Board shall approve the application, if the submission is satisfactory.(This paragraph was revised on June 12, 2004.)
- Article 6
- The member shall pay the membership fee that shall be decided by the General Assembly of the Association.
- Article 7
- A member may withdraw from the Association after submitting a written notice to the secretariat of the Association.
- Article 8
- The Association shall have the appropriate numbers of Executives.
- Article 9
- The Executive Board shall consist of individual members who are elected by the General Assembly.(revised on June 10, 2006)
- Article 10
- The Chairperson of the Executive Board shall be elected by the Board, and shall represent the Association.
- Article 11
- The appropriate number of permanent members of the Executive Board may be selected from among the Board members, in order to facilitate management of the Association.
- Article 12
- The term of the Executive Board shall be two years, and reappointment shall be allowed for only one term. (This paragraph was revised on June 13, 1987.)
- Article 13
- The Association shall have two accounting auditors that shall be recommended by the Executive Board and approved by the General Assembly.
The auditors' term shall be consistent with the provisions of Article 12. (The second paragraph was revised on June 11, 1988.)
- Article 14
- The Association shall hold a General Assembly once a year. The extraordinary general meeting may be held when the Executive Board considers it necessary, or when more than two-thirds of the membership request an extraordinary general meeting.
- Article 15
- The resolution or motion at the General Assembly shall be passed by the majority vote of the participants. When the vote is tied, the chairperson shall decide the vote.
- Article 16
- The Executive Board shall meet when appropriate, in order to manage the Association.
- Article 17
- To revise the Article of Association, or dissolve the Association, more than two-thirds of the votes of approval are needed at the General Assembly.
- Article 18
- The provisions of this Article shall be in force from June 1, 1980.
- Supplementary Provisions
- From April 1, 1998, the address of the Secretariat shall be changed as follows:
