How to Join

The Women's Studies Association of Japan is not constrained by customs and rules that are prevalent among existing academic associations, and is open to all sectors of society. We have been very active in exchanging opinions and information from among researchers, educators, activists and campaign organizers, aiming to be a center of exchange that is operated democratically and independently for those who are determined to research and work for women's studies.

Annual Conference in June
Consisting of a panel discussion under a specific theme, a seminar, presentations by individual researchers, and workshops
Publication of the Association's academic journal
Publication of the Association's newsletter
Independent research and projects

Membership Rules

Agree to the Articles of the Association
¥1,000 joining fee
¥7,000 annual membership fee (from April 1 to March 31)
Recommendation from two individual members and approval by the Executive Board of the Women's Studies Association of Japan.
